The [[Hewn Log]] is a [[Housing#Building_Materials|Tier 1]] construction material made from [[Log]]s.

Hewn Logs can be placed in various block forms for construction while a [[hammer]] is active. Hold "F" to view the options for placement including the type of Hewn Log to be placed, and how you place the Hewn Log.

As an important early building material (along with [[Mortared Stone]]), it is used as an ingredient for several [[skill book]]s.

==Crafting==

Hewn Logs can be crafted at both the [[Workbench]] and the [[Carpentry Table]].  Formerly the [[Hewing]] skill would make crafting Hewn Logs more efficient based on the level. The Workbench recipe is intended for players just starting out, this will not give any carpentry or logging experience.  After unlocking the [[Logging]] Profession you are able to make the [[Carpentry Table]], which decreases crafting time at the cost of extra labour  this will give you .5 logging experience(times your multiplier).  As you level up the [[Logging]] Skill, the cost of Labour XP needed for the carpentry table will decrease, making the difference Negligible.


The below table shows that Hewn Logs are not used in any recipes, that is false.  For Instance, [[Board|Boards]] are made out of Hewn Logs.
