The [[Hewn Log]] is a [[Housing#Building_Materials|Tier 1]] construction material made from [[Log]]s.
[[Hewn Log]] is a [[Housing#Building_Materials|Tier 1]] construction material made from Wood. Depending on the [[Hewn Log Tag|Logs]] used will give you a different variation of Hewn, currently, there are three variants.
*Hewn Log
*Hardwood Hewn Log created using wood with the [[Hardwood Tag]].
*Softwood Hewn Log created using wood with the [[Softwood Tag]].


Hewn Logs can be placed in various block forms for construction while a [[hammer]] is active. Hold "F" to view the options for placement including the type of Hewn Log to be placed, and how you place the Hewn Log.


As an important early building material (along with [[Mortared Stone]]), it is used as an ingredient for several [[skill book]]s.

Hewn Logs can be crafted at both the [[Workbench]] and the [[Carpentry Table]].  Formerly the [[Hewing]] skill would make crafting Hewn Logs more efficient based on the level. The Workbench recipe is intended for players just starting out.  After unlocking the [[Logging]] Profession you are able to make the [[Carpentry Table]], which decreases crafting time at the cost of extra labour.  As you level up the [[Carpentry]] Skill, the cost of Labour XP needed will decrease, making the difference Negligible.
 
 
The below table shows that Hewn Logs are not used in any recipes, that is false.  For Instance, [[Board|Boards]] are made out of Hewn Logs.
