The Hewn Log is a Tier 1 construction material made from Logs.
Hewn Logs can be placed in various block forms for construction while a hammer is active. Hold "F" to view the options for placement including the type of Hewn Log to be placed, and how you place the Hewn Log.
As an important early building material (along with Mortared Stone), it is used as an ingredient for several skill books.
Crafting
Hewn Logs can be crafted at both the Workbench and the Carpentry Table. Formerly the Hewing skill would make crafting Hewn Logs more efficient based on the level. The Workbench recipe is intended for players just starting out. After unlocking the Logging Profession you are able to make the Carpentry Table, which decreases crafting time at the cost of extra labour. As you level up the Carpentry Skill, the cost of Labour XP needed will decrease, making the difference Negligible.
The below table shows that Hewn Logs are not used in any recipes, that is false. For Instance, Boards are made out of Hewn Logs.
