Iron Ore

Template:Infobox Item Iron Ore is a resource that can be gathered with any pickaxe from iron ore veins, which are found within Sandstone.

It appears to be most abundant in the Desert biome, about 25 blocks below the surface. It can also be found beneath Grasslands.

Iron Ore is refined into Iron bar at a Bloomery or a Blast Furnace.

Appearance

Iron Ore is found underground (or occasionally exposed above ground) within Sandstone. It appears as a block that can be distinguished by darker and more pronounced streaks than the surrounding Sandstone.

Location

The information here is based on default ("vanilla") settings and may not be accurate in worlds with custom configurations or mods enabled.

Desert

• 15% chance, 0-1 blocks below the surface - with 21-23 blocks
• 2% chance, 0-1 blocks below the surface - with 8-15 blocks
• 7.5% chance, 8-11 blocks below the surface
• 0.25% chance, 8-20 blocks below the surface - with either 15-50 blocks or 40-250 blocks
• 0.25% chance, 0-20 blocks below the surface - with either 35-140 or 15-150

Grasslands

• 1% chance, 53-60 blocks below the surface - with 15-75 blocks
