Fertilizers (Items)[edit | edit source]

In Agriculture, fertilizers are used to amend soil nutrients and can be crafted at the Farmer's Table. They change the value of the primary plant nutrients: Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K). Multiple different types can be crafted at the Farmer's Table by combining items with different fillers.

Soil composition[edit | edit source]

A player using the Soil Sampler can determine the composition of the soil: temperature, moisture content, and nutrients. As plants deplete nutrients through Farming, a farmer can replenish the Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) levels through applying different fertilizers. Caring for soil nutrients is key to achieving continual high yields and optimum growing conditions. To learn more about controlling temperature and moisture content see Agriculture.

Types of Fertilizers[edit | edit source]

There are multiple different types of fertilizer that can be crafted at the Farmer's Table, each with their own recipe and effects. A comprehensive overview of fertilizer types (as of 0.9.0.3) follows:

Name Level Needed Nitrogen Phosphorous Potassium Ingredients
Berry Extract Fertilizer 3 1 3 4.8 40 Huckleberries
1 Composite Filler
Blood Meal Fertilizer 1 3 0.4 0.4 14 Scrap Meat
1 Pulp Filler
Camas Ash Fertilizer 2 0.3 0.7 2 2 Camas Bulb
1 Fiber Filler
Hide Ash Fertilizer 1 5 0.5 0.5 2 Leather Hide
1 Pulp Filler
Pelt Fertilizer 2 4 2 2 2 Fur Pelt
1 Fiber Filler
Phosphate Fertilizer 3 0.5 4 0.5 18 Limestone
1 Composite Filler
Compost Fertilizer 5 2 1 3.7 1 Compost
1 Fiber Filler

Types of Fillers[edit | edit source]

Fillers are crafted specifically for use in fertilizer production and are made from combining Plant Fibers or Wood Pulp with dirt at the Farmer's Table.

A comprehensive overview of filler types (as of 0.9.0.3) follows:

Name Level Needed Ingredients
Fiber Filler 2 15 Plant Fibers
1 Dirt
Pulp Filler 1 15 Wood Pulp
1 Dirt
Composite Filler 3 1 Fiber Filler
1 Pulp Filler

How Fertilizer Works[edit | edit source]

Fertilizers is applied to the soil of the entire 5x5 plot it's used on, meaning it affects a 5x5 area which you can see by holding a Land Claim Stake.

Each unit of nitrogen, phosphorous or potassium in the fertilizer corresponds to 4% of the corresponding nutrient in the soil (shown by the Soil Sampler).

Changes in the nutrient values of the soil take some time to update and will not be visible when checked with the soil sampler for ~10 minutes. You can add as many fertilizers to a plot as you want, but you will have to wait for the plot to update before you can read the nutrient change to that plot (as of v0.943).

Over-fertilizing[edit | edit source]

According to Agriculture page, a player can over-fertilizer a plot of land to the detriment of crop survivability, growth, and yield.
