Copper Ore is a resource that can be gathered from copper ore veins. Copper ore is only found within Granite.

It is most abundant in the Boreal Forest biome, but also in Tundra, Ice and Cold Forest biomes in a lower concentration, especially 20-30 blocks below the surface.

Copper Ore is clearly distinguishable from the surrounding rock due to its reddish, mottled appearance.

Location[edit | edit source]

The Copper Ore vein doesn't spawn outside of cold areas of the map. A player might most easily find copper ore through prospecting, although the process may take time.

The information here is based on default ("vanilla") settings and may not be accurate in worlds with custom configurations or mods enabled.

Boreal Forest[edit | edit source]

(this is out of date however couldn't find this in the WorldGeneration.eco.template file)

Copper Ore is most abundant in the Boreal Forest biome 20-30 blocks below the surface. According to game files, copper ore has a chance of spawning within granite at the following depths:

  • 5% chance, 5-20 blocks below the surface
  • 40% chance, 20-30 blocks below the surface
  • 8% chance, 30-40 blocks below the surface

Other biomes[edit | edit source]

The Tundra, Ice, and Cold Forest biomes all have a chance at spawning copper veins at similar depths, but at a lower rate than in the Boreal Forest. According to game files, copper ore has a chance of spawning within granite at the following depths:

Taiga[edit | edit source]

  • 0.15% chance, 25-40 blocks below surface - in blob of 25-100 blocks
  • 0.2% chance, 40-60 blocks below surface - in blob of 5-35 blocks

Tundra[edit | edit source]

  • 0.2% chance, 60-100 blocks below surface - in blob of 15-68 blocks

Ice[edit | edit source]

  • 0.5% chance, 10-60 blocks below surface - in a blob of 20-60 blocks
  • 0.2% chance, on the surface or up to 15 blocks below surface - in a blob of 4-12 blocks

Cold Forest[edit | edit source]

  • 2% chance, on the surface or up to 20 blocks below surface - in blobs of 6-14 blocks
Warm Forest[edit | edit source]
  • 3% chance, 15-30 below surface - in a blob of 3-17 blocks
  • 3% chance, 25-55 below surface - in a blob of 6-25 blocks
