Various types of rock can be found within the Eco world, most of it under the Dirt layer. Different rock types hold different ores, and can be valuable in their own right for crafting.

With Eco Beta 8.0, six rock types were added to the game: Sandstone, Shale, Limestone, Granite, Gneiss, and Basalt.

Harvesting[edit | edit source]

To be collected, all rock must be broken up with the Pickaxe, then collected by hand in stacks of 20. It can be placed in a crossed 2x2 pattern, with 4 items taking up 1 block of space. These blocks can create house walls, but will have to be picked up or put in a Stockpile to be used for crafting.

Rock tiers[edit | edit source]

Rocks can be divided into tiers based on how hard they are to break. The following table shows how many hits it takes to break each tier of rock with each tier of pickaxe. Note that while lower tier pickaxes are slower, even a stone pickaxe is able to break any type of rock in the game. Note also that the Mining Tool Strength Talent will cause pickaxes to work as if they were the next tier up in this table.

Stone Pickaxe Iron Pickaxe Steel Pickaxe Modern Pickaxe
Tier 1 1 1 1 1
Tier 2 2 1 1 1
Tier 3 4 2 1 1
Tier 4 6 3 2 1
