Scythe

The Scythe or Sickle is a tool used to harvest Wheat, Plant Fibers, Bunchgrass and other plants.

The Scythe costs 20 calories per plant harvested for each use (eg if you harvest 2 plants with one swing it will cost 40 calories total). Leveling up the Farming skill in the Agriculture tree will reduce its calorie usage.

There are various kinds of Scythes.

The Stone Sickle is usually the first type of sickle players use, it can be crafted in the Tool Bench.

It harvests a single plant per swing, and can be used 200 times before needing repair at a cost of 5 Rock Tag.

The Iron Sickle is slightly better than the Stone Sickle and can be acquired by crafting it on an Anvil.

It harvests a single plant per swing, and can be used 500 times before needing repair at a cost of 4 Iron Bars.

A big improvement over the Iron Sickle, the Steel Sickle can be acquired by crafting it on an Anvil. It is the first sickle that can harvest more than one plant per swing which can decrease harvesting time.

It harvests the targeted plant as well as the three directly next to it for a total of 1-4 plants per swing (1 away from target excluding direction player is standing, in a ┴ shape), and can be used 1,000 times before needing repair at a cost of 8 Steel Bars.

The Modern Scythe, which significantly reduces the need of repairs compared to the Steel Hammer, can be acquired by crafting it in an Assembly Line.

It harvests the targeted plant as well as the three directly next to it and the ones to the sides of those three for a total of 1-8 plants per swing (2 to the left and right of target, 1 away from the target, and the plants to the left and right of the one away in a ┘═└ shape), and can be used a whopping 2,000 times before needing repair at a cost of 15 Steel Bars.
