Gold Ore is a naturally occurring Resource in the world. It can be found within Granite.
It appears to be most common in Rainforest, 40-70 blocks under the surface, but can be found in many different biomes.
Gold Ore can be mined and refined to create Gold Ingots.
Appearance
Gold Ore veins have light streaks running through them with a subtle gold color. They look similar to the surrounding Granite and can be easy to overlook.

Gold ore always spawns within Granite.
Boreal forest
Gold Ore is likely to be most abundant in the Boreal Forest biome, 40-70 blocks below the surface, where it has a 5% chance to spawn. It is less common (1% chance) 20-40 blocks below Boreal Forest.
Other Biomes
The Warm Forest, Ice, Cold Forest, Tundra, Grasslands, and Desert biomes all have a chance at spawning gold ore veins, but at a lower rate than in Rainforest. According to game files, gold ore has the following chance of spawning in Granite at various depths:
Warm Forest
- 3% chance, 16-40 blocks below surface
- 1% chance, 0-16 blocks below surface
Ice
- 3% chance, 5-20 blocks below surface
Cold Forest
- 2% chance, 30-70 blocks below surface
- 1% chance, 0-30 blocks below surface
Grasslands
- 1% chance, 0-70 blocks below surface
Tundra
- 1% chance, 0-70 blocks below surface
Desert
- 0.5% chance, 0-25 blocks below surface
Other
- It can also be found above surface within Granite. It has a gold coloured texture on the minimap. this is the easiest way to find gold so far.
